Beaufort County and much of coastal South Carolina and Georgia will likely be spared from wintry weather as winter storm Fern continues toward the eastern United States, according to a Friday morning briefing from the National Weather Service’s Charleston office.

Another blast of Arctic air has settled into South Carolina. With an extended stretch of below-normal temperatures, residents are urged to take precautions.

The chances are currently low, but it’s possible more than an inch of snow could accumulate in the Midlands, according to the National Weather Service.
